Building a webpage and want to use some universal Unicode? You just broke all iOS devices that will default special characters to their own stupid emojiis. But there is hope.
Take the ↩ character ( ↩ ): "left arrow with hook" for example. It looks quite similar to the default Android back button found on millions of Samsung devices and is a perfect icon for blazingly fast web navigation without having to rely on bloated 3rd party web fonts. On iOS it appears as a stupid blue box with round corners in which a white arrow lives inside (smaller than your declared font size to boot!).
The fix is to include ' ︎ ' immediately after the Unicode character (less apostrophes) ' ↩︎ .' This additional code will forbade that iPhone and iPad from using its own useless iconography keeping your site clean and consistent.
