Microsoft jacked up the price of its cloud enabled Xbox gaming service Game Pass Ultimate (repeatedly) but continues to give users poor performance without just compensation because, well, "beta."
Here's a few more recent experiences we enjoyed after paying $240 per year. Side note: don't pay full price! Use resources such as gg.deals and Gameseal.com to find discounts. We've had great results with both paying from anywhere 28% to 50% lower than the normal subscription fees from Microsoft directly.

Head on over to Better xCloud at: https://better-xcloud.github.io/ to install the version for your current system. We've tested Android on a GoogleTV, a Samsung phone and tablet, Edge on Linux and various other browsers all with great results, even using 5G vs wifi connections.
Post install, must use the "Suggested Settings" and picking a server that is off your standard waking time. For example, if you are gaming in the western US during a peak PST time, look for a region that is likely to be sleeping such as East Japan (if there are loading queues in your actual region/timezone).
