If you are still using Joomla 3.x series (why haven't you updated to 4.x yet?) you may come across a problem when using either the v2 recaptcha and the v3 nocaptcha anti-spam form validation tools.
Google has recently started to use some particular language in their nocaptcha service that conflicts with Joomla v3.10.x+.
Why? Way back, Joomla core used a special language flag within Mootools and guess what, Google is now using that same language within the nocaptcha verification status. To put it simply, they conflict.
Since Joomla core includes user registartion forms, this change effectively breaks user registrations on any 3.10.x+ website (Joomla 4 is not effected by this situation). You will find that your own hand crafted forms that use v2/v3 captcha in forms outside of core will work perfectly (for example if you are using chronoforms; they aren't effected).
The easiest and quickest way to resolve this issue to to migrate your core form verfication from nocaptcha services to hcaptcha.com. You don't need to change your other forms that might be using Google nocaptcha system since they are independent of the core forms. There are other methods of working around this conflict but users are very unlikely to notice let alone care what captcha system you are using.
All in all, this change only takes about 15 minutes to put into place if you have some bit of experience working within the venerable Joomla CMS. Most of that time is registering on hcaptcha's website and plugging in the new keys. Oh, and migrate to Joomla 4 already, seriously. Its EOL for awhile now and Joomla 5 was just released at the time this article posted. :)
